My name is Amanda Salvaggio Fenlon ("Sal"), and I am an abstract painter living in New York City. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where I developed a love for art, and an appreciation for all aspects of culture at a young age. Art has always remained a constant thread in my life, whether studying art history, traveling to an arts destination, taking a photography class, working on a gallery exhibition, or art-mentoring a child. For the past nine years I have worked in the non-profit and for-profit art industries in New York, and had the pleasure of working with many well-known contemporary artists. Almost a year ago I left my job at a prominent art gallery to pursue my own art and develop a portfolio. Not quite ready for the formalities of a website, I have started this blog as a live notebook of my journey as an artist where I can share info on my process, what inspires me, news about upcoming shows, and my finished works.
I hold a BA in Studio Art and Art History from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, and a MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York. Currently, I am enrolled in courses at the National Academy School on the Upper East Side, and work from my small home studio in Noho. I look forward to your feedback, and hope you find my blog interesting and inspiring!
